Ugh….I cheated

Yes, you read write. I cheated on the diet today.  I just know I will not be happy when I get on the scale in the morning.

I had kettle corn.  Then Chipotle.  Then a bite of birthday cake.  Then a few pretzels.

damn.

End of Week 1 of diet

So today was the 10th day of HCG and the 8th day of the 500 calorie diet.  My weight this morning was 168.4  That is a loss of   9 pounds even for the 1st week!  Not bad if I do say so myself!

Some folks have started noticing the difference and that makes me even more motivated.  Just think what I will look like down 31 - 41 more pounds!

Cost

So, how much is this diet costing me?

A lot!  Not just in yummy food but money too!

Luckily the company I work for has a really great HSA (Health Savings Account) that not only do I contribute to, but they do too!  $1600 per year to be exact!

So that is how I am paying for the HCG diet and the phentermine.

The first visit to the Dr. was $450!  That covered blood work, 1 month of HCG, 1 month of phentermine and a double b-12 shot.  Oh and the consultation of course.

Each month, the follow up medication is:

  • $285 for the hcg
  • $65 for the phentermine
  • $20 for the b12 shot

I am willing to try this for no more than 3 months!

Current Weight:

This morning my “naked” weight was: 169.0 lbs

That is a loss of 8.4lbs since last Friday!

I am very excited and motivated!

I’ve been doing great with the diet.  Mixing up my protein between chicken, steak, fish and shrimp.  Trying to keep a little bit of variety.  This week I was in meetings all day on Tuesday and Wednesday and of course they provided lunch – it was tough but nothing I couldn’t handle!  I must admit though, the fajitas they served on Tuesday smelled wonderful in comparison to my chicken!

Tomorrow I will most 1-week photos.

Tuesday Weigh-In

Sorry I did not get a chance to post yesterday, very busy day!

Happy to report that at the Vikings game….I did not cheat!  I took my premeasured chicken with me, had my  strawberries and some veggies – no dressing!  It was difficult – especially since we women like to gather in the kitchen!!!  Cheese dips of all kinds, cheese cake, brownies, hot dogs, meatballs – YIKES!  But when I weighed on Monday morning and saw I was down another pound – I was super proud of myself!

Tuesday 1/26 Weigh-In

170.2 – down 7.2 pounds since Friday 1/22!!!!!

I am feeling great and wearing pants that caused huge muffin tops the last time I wore them!

Hey – only 40 more pounds to go!

I’ll be back later to chat about the cost of the program. I was supposed to have done that yesterday but no time!

Today’s menu:

Apple for breakfast

fish with cucumbers and lemon for lunch

strawberries for snack

steak with tomatoes for dinner

I read last week that tomatoes are great for fighting off belly fat!  They are even more powerful if you heat them up!

Plus they are delicious!

Sunday…testy Sunday

Sunday is notoriously my day of too much snacking!  So far so good today!  It will take a lot of strength this evening as I am going to a NFL party with my friends who are Viking fans.  I’ve pulled out the only purple and gold I own!  There will be tons of food (of which I can have none) as well as alcohol (luckily I don’t really drink so that will not be a problem)! I am going to take a desert of fresh strawberries and dips because I can have 6 strawberries!  I am also taking my food with me!

This morning I weighed in at:

172.6 – down nearly 5 lbs!

I feel great.  Last night I got a little bit hungry and had ongoing “in my head” conversations happening.  I am so used to snacking because I am watching tv and it not having anything to do with being hungry that it is a hard battle.  I just kept drinking water!  They said the more the better on the water!  Getting to 80oz per day is a little bit of a struggle but I have been doing it! I have also been peeing about 30 times per day!

I can physically see a bit of a change in my midsection. I plan on doing weekly pictures.  I know you all that have looked at this blog were probably a little bit shocked by those yucky pictures I posted at the start – I know I was!

Take care.  Tomorrow I will discuss the cost of the diet program.

First weigh-in

So this morning was the first weigh in after 1 day on the diet.  I feel better already!

My weight this morning was: 174.6 – almost 3 pounds less than yesterday.

I found my self anxious to weigh this morning, because I actually felt different.

For breakfast today I had 6 strawberries.  Lunch was 3 oz of chicken and 3 1/2 oz. of spinach.

Tons of water each day and I am feeling great!

While on this diet  you can not really exercise.  You can go walking – but nothing very strenuous.  They don’t want your body to release glycolic something or other which puts more sugar in your blood.  So Just been walking a little and that is it.  Once the weight is off, I will get back into my old routine.  I had been walking/running pushing Sofia in the jogger and using the 30 Day Shred DVD.

I am open to questions if anyone has any?

I am sure a lot of folks would think this is an easy weigh out.  But, until you are in position, you might not be able to say for sure.  All I know is working out in the past and not losing any belly  fat is just too frustrating to go through it again.

The Diet – Day One

The Releana diet will not be easy.  It will be very difficult.

Today is actually day 3 of taking the Releana, but day 1 of the restricted diet.  The first 2 days of the diet are “loading days”.  You eat regular foods (including some fats) and take the medicine.  Then on Day 3 (today) the diet begins.

The Diet

Breakfast – either 1 apple, orange, 6 strawberries or 1/2 grapefruit

Lunch – 3 oz of lean protein and 3 1/2 oz of veggies.  No corn, beans, carrots, potatoes, etc.

Dinner – same as lunch

Snack – 1 additional fruit choice (must be at least 6 hours since the 1st piece of fruit was consumed)

Water – at least 2 liters per day

I can also have 2 diet sodas per day.  I am trying to not have any though.

I have not been hungry at all.  I started using the appetite suppressant today to help with that.  I have lots of energy and no jitters.

Today I feel great.

I have to weigh myself every morning.  As soon as I wake up (and go to the bathroom) I strip down and get on the scale.

This morning – 177.4

Below I have included a picture I took tonight.  These new Lucky Jeans were an awesome bargain ($14 instead of $115 at Macy’s today).  They are a 30 – Size 10.  Clearly they are a loooooooong way from fitting. They do not even go up over my hips.  I will use these jeans to mark my progress.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The lack of my head is only due to the lack of make-up and lack of fixed hair!  However I made sure to keep the double chin in there!

All about Me!

This is a journey, a journey to a new me.  You see, I am really tired of the old me.  The old me is tired and fat.  The old me is not a lot of fun to be with.  The old me is single but SO not ready to mingle!

This is my second blog.  I have a family blog where I talk about my daughter’s life and all her activities but not much about me or my personal life.  This blog is going to be about me.  It might be pretty boring.   I am a certified homebody!   But if you want to read along, feel free to do so!  If not, that is ok too – I’ll still like you just the same!

Why am I writing a blog about being fat obese?  Well, because I don’t want to be that way anymore!

Why do I say I am obese?  Well my recent biometric screening at work told me I was (it also told me that last year but I was in denial) so I guess I am!

What am I going to do about it?  I just started a medically supervised weight-loss program.

Am I just being lazy?  Maybe – maybe not.  More about that later.

Alright, I’m gonna get right to the embarrassing stuff!

Dreaded Before Pictures

That was painful and a little bit disgusting.

The Timeframe

during 2010.

The Plan

Releana and Phentermine

Yes, drugs.

Releana is a sublingual oral drop taken 2 x per day.  It is hcg.  The same hormone produced in pregnant women. You can read more about Releana here.

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant.  It is not Fen-Phen.  I used it in 2008 and lost about 25 pounds.

Why am I using medication?

I have a lot of fat all centered around my mid-section.  The most difficult to get rid of and the most deadly.  I would like to live a nice long life with my daughter.  I exercise.  I eat 80% VERY healthy.  I don’t drink. I don’t smoke.  I can lose weight on my own – but it is never the weight that I need to lose.  My stomach fat NEVER goes away.

Now I am sure some of you are thinking to yourself - “you just gotta work out harder and eat better”.  Here’s the thing.  I don’t have 2-3 hours per day to spend working out.  I am a single mom.  I work fulltime.  My daughter has activities 3 nights out of the week.   The last place she wants to go after being at school all day is to the gym’s daycare.  When you need to lose 50-60 pounds  - it takes more than 30 minutes per day.

I know I make excuses.  I do.  It could be done with exercise and diet. But I want to SEE results.  I have ran miles and miles training for 1/2 marathons and not dropped a pound.  I need help.  I have done 1200 calories per day and seen only 1 pound come off per month.  I need help.   I have done WW with no success.  I need help.

I needed help so I went and bought it.

More to come tomorrow.
